# Pin the Extension to Your Browser Toolbar

> Keep the Video Downloader Plus icon visible in your toolbar to see stream detection status at a glance. Takes about 10 seconds to set up.

By default, newly installed extensions are hidden behind the puzzle-piece extensions menu. Pinning Video Downloader Plus moves its icon into your main toolbar so the detection indicator is always visible without an extra click.

## How to pin Video Downloader Plus

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click the extensions menu">
    Look for the **puzzle piece icon** on the right side of your browser's address bar. Click it to open the dropdown listing all your installed extensions.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find Video Downloader Plus in the list">
    Scroll through the extension list until you see **Video Downloader Plus**. Each entry has a small pin icon on its right side.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the pin icon">
    Click the pin icon next to Video Downloader Plus. When pinned, the icon turns blue and Video Downloader Plus's icon moves into the main toolbar area next to the address bar.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Why the pinned icon matters

The toolbar icon does more than give you quick access to the popup — it acts as a live detection indicator for the current tab:

* **Inactive state** — The icon displays in its default appearance when Video Downloader Plus has not detected any streams on the page you're viewing
* **Active state** — The icon highlights with a blue indicator (or shows a count badge, depending on your badge mode setting) when one or more video streams have been identified on the current page

Without the icon pinned to your toolbar, you would need to open the extensions menu each time to check whether a stream is available. Pinning eliminates that friction entirely.
